Skye Air Mobility, a drone delivery service announced a partnership with Curefoods to use drones to send temperature-controlled cartons of frozen food to cloud kitchens. According to Skye Air Mobility, the week-long BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) experiments under the agreement have already started from Curefoods’ warehouse in Jhund Sarai, Gurugram, to its culinary outlet at Golf Course Road.
Ankit Kumar, CEO of Skye Air Mobility said, “This partnership represents a ground-breaking effort in the direction of using cutting-edge technology to distribute food. Curefoods has used a creative strategy to enhance logistics and better meet consumer demand. “We will be looking into B2C food deliveries in the near future. We will start with B2B pilot kitchen deliveries which ensure a higher quantity at a reduced cost.”

In order to permit real-time deliveries while maintaining the highest level of flight safety and temperature monitoring, Skye Air has been employing its flagship unmanned aerial vehicle, Skye Ship One. 20 miles of aerial distance were covered by the drone in less than 30 minutes. With the testing still ongoing, Skye Air anticipates gathering additional information on the route, flight, cost, and economic viability in order to create models for commercial flights to start soon.
Drone delivery is going to disrupt the game in the future because of the enormous technology breakthroughs in the food-tech industry. Ankit Nagori, the creator of Curefoods, noted that drone delivery is being experimented with on a global scale, and this partnership with Skye Air Mobility is a pilot venture to examine drone delivery as a practical food delivery alternative. The testing saw up to six flights each day, each carrying a payload of 5 kg in temperature-controlled boxes that kept the frozen food fresh by maintaining a negative 20-degree temperature.
