Funding Alert Press Release

Neuromod Aqua raises pre-seed funding from Sportskeeda founder Porush Jain

Neuromod Aqua has raised an undisclosed amount in pre-seed funding from Porush Jain, founder of Sportskeeda. The New Delhi-based water-infrastructure startup plans to use the capital to develop modular wastewater-treatment systems and complete its first commercial deployments.

The company is working on a factory-manufactured platform for decentralised sewage and effluent treatment. Instead of designing every treatment plant from scratch, Neuromod Aqua wants to standardise the way these systems are designed, produced, installed, and maintained

Its technology uses established treatment methods such as moving-bed biofilm reactors, membrane bioreactors, and sequencing batch reactors, commonly referred to as MBBR, MBR, and SBR. The company’s focus is on packaging these technologies into modular systems that can be adapted for different sites and requirements.

This approach could make wastewater treatment more practical for locations that do not have access to large centralised plants. Housing developments, hotels, factories, institutions, and smaller industrial facilities all generate wastewater that must be treated before it is released or reused. A modular system can potentially be installed closer to where the water is generated and expanded as demand increases.

India’s need for better wastewater management is significant. Rapid urbanisation, industrial growth, and pressure on freshwater supplies are making treatment and reuse increasingly important. However, infrastructure projects can be expensive, slow to install, and difficult to operate consistently. Neuromod Aqua is trying to address some of these challenges by creating a more standardised product rather than relying only on customised engineering projects.

The fresh capital will help the startup establish its manufacturing platform, develop and validate its productised sewage-treatment plant, and build its engineering and service capabilities. It will also support initial deployments in the Delhi-NCR region over the next year.

Neuromod Aqua plans to build recurring revenue through maintenance, operations, compliance support, and remote monitoring. This is an important part of the model because wastewater treatment does not end after installation. Plants need regular monitoring, servicing, and compliance checks to operate properly over time

Porush Jain’s investment gives the company early financial support as it moves from product development toward commercial use. The amount raised has not been disclosed, so the focus at this stage is on what the capital will help Neuromod build rather than on the size of the round.

For Neuromod Aqua, the next challenge will be proving that its modular systems can perform reliably in different conditions and at a competitive cost. If it can combine dependable treatment with easier installation and ongoing service, the startup could contribute to a more efficient and decentralised approach to wastewater management.
