Piper Serica leads Rs 15 Cr pre–Series A round in deep tech startup AlgoFET

AlgoFET has raised Rs 15 crore in a Pre-Series A round led by deep-tech investor Piper Serica, giving the Bengaluru-based startup fresh capital to expand its autonomous infrastructure for drones. The company plans to use the money for product development, manufacturing, intellectual property, and deployments across defence, enterprise, and international markets.

Founded in 2023, AlgoFET is working on a part of the drone ecosystem that often receives less attention than the aircraft itself: the infrastructure on the ground. Its systems are designed to allow drones to dock, recharge, manage their batteries, and relaunch with limited human intervention.

That infrastructure is important because drones become much more useful when they can operate continuously rather than depending on a person to land, replace a battery, and start the next flight. Autonomous docking and charging can help organisations monitor large areas, respond to incidents, and complete repeated missions with less manual support.

AlgoFET also offers tools for battery management and fleet monitoring. Together, these systems can give operators better visibility into the condition, location, and availability of their drones. This could be particularly useful in sectors such as defence, industrial inspection, security, logistics, and infrastructure management.

The company reportedly has more than 2,000 units deployed and a strong order pipeline, giving it some early evidence that customers are willing to adopt its technology. However, scaling hardware-based deep-tech products is not easy. It requires reliable manufacturing, field support, supply-chain discipline, and the ability to adapt systems to different operating environments.

The new funding will help AlgoFET increase its in-house manufacturing capacity and develop next-generation infrastructure products. It will also allow the startup to strengthen its proprietary technology and expand into overseas markets, including the United States and Europe.

Piper Serica’s investment reflects growing interest in the supporting systems that make drone operations practical at scale. India has made considerable progress in developing and using drones, but a wider drone ecosystem also needs dependable ground infrastructure, battery systems, maintenance networks, and software for fleet management.

For AlgoFET, the funding is an opportunity to move from individual deployments toward a broader platform for autonomous drone operations. The company will need to prove that its products can work reliably in demanding conditions and deliver clear value to customers.

If it succeeds, AlgoFET could become an important part of the infrastructure layer behind India’s expanding drone industry. Its challenge now is to convert early deployments and investor confidence into a scalable, globally competitive deep-tech business.
