Namma Yatri Debuts in Delhi, Aims for 50,000 Drivers in 3 Months

Namma Yatri, the pen mobility auto-booking app, has initiated its services in New Delhi intending to improve first and last-mile connectivity in conjunction with metro services.

Operating within the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Namma Yatri falls under the ownership of the fintech firm Juspay. According to ONDC, the app already recognizes rides to and from the Metro as special, enhancing the service for both drivers and customers.

“In the coming months, the app will deeply integrate with public transportation through ONDC Network to offer seamless multi-modal transportation towards sustainable transportation in Delhi,” stated ONDC in an official statement.

Namma Yatri presently boasts 10,000 drivers in Delhi and has set an ambitious target to onboard an additional 50,000 drivers within the next three months, as disclosed by ONDC. “Our vision shared with Namma Yatri is to seamlessly integrate auto-hailing services onto the roads of Delhi, providing reliable and convenient transportation,” remarked T Koshy, MD and CEO at ONDC.

Amidst reported plans for divestment, Juspay (a leading fintech company in India) is considering registering Namma Yatri as a separate entity. The company aims to secure separate investors for both growth and cost reduction, contemplating a shift to OpenStreetMaps to curtail expenses. Earlier in October, Juspay collaborated with the state government for the Yatri Sathi app in Kolkata.

Shan MS, Chief Growth Officer at Juspay, expressed enthusiasm for collaboration, stating, “We look forward to working closely with the community, government, and public transport organizations in making Delhi’s commute more efficient, inclusive, and reliable through empathy and technology.”
