Online travel giant MakeMyTrip has announced a significant expansion of its global reach, with its services now accessible in over 150 countries. This move marks a substantial leap for the company, which previously operated primarily in India, the US, and the UAE.
MakeMyTrip’s expansion has reached several key travel markets, including the UK, Germany, Japan, Italy, and France, among others, the company stated in a press release. The company highlighted its commitment to adhering to various international compliances, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which were crucial in achieving this milestone.
“The rigorous standards of compliance and commitment to data protection we have in place for our Indian business helped us transition smoothly towards stringent international compliances,” remarked MakeMyTrip Co-founder & Group CEO Rajesh Magow.
Magow emphasized that the decision to make MakeMyTrip accessible globally stemmed from rigorous testing of its processes against international protocols. This effort aims to enable travelers to book or modify their travel purchases on the platform seamlessly, regardless of their geographical location.
“Our global accessibility will help us reach the vast Indian diaspora. Importantly, this expansion will enable us to cater to a broader audience, fostering increased inbound travel to India,” Magow stated, underscoring the platform’s focus on enhancing inbound tourism.
MakeMyTrip’s extensive coverage includes accommodations in more than 2,000 cities, which will facilitate international tourists in discovering India’s hidden gems, Magow added.
