Elevate Your Video Calls: WhatsApp Introduces Exciting Screen Sharing Feature

WhatsApp has introduced a new screen sharing feature during video calls, aiming to enhance the video-calling experience and directly competing with established video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Meet, Google Meet, Zoom, and Apple’s FaceTime.

The latest feature, announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via Facebook and Instagram, enables users to share documents, images, and even their online shopping carts with contacts during video calls. Initially released to select Android beta testers in late May, screen sharing is accessible by clicking the “Share” icon and allows users to choose between sharing a specific app or their entire screen, resembling the functionality seen in Google Meet and Zoom.

WhatsApp has confirmed that the screen-sharing feature is gradually rolling out across Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop platforms. While not immediately available for all users, it is expected to be accessible soon.

In addition to screen sharing, WhatsApp has introduced support for video calls in Landscape mode, enhancing the viewing experience by providing a wider and more immersive aspect. This Landscape mode can prove particularly useful when utilizing the newly introduced screen-sharing capability.

While video calling has been a part of WhatsApp for several years, the platform is continuously enhancing its services to remain competitive. Recent improvements include picture-in-picture support for video calls on iOS and the ability to share short video messages within chats. As video communication remains integral for users, WhatsApp’s addition of screen sharing serves to expand its utility, bringing it in line with the offerings of other popular video-conferencing apps.
