IIT Hyderabad and WiSig Networks have collaborated to create the first indigenous 5G technology

A maiden 5G data call was made by researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) and WiSig Networks utilizing an indigenously designed open radio access network (ORAN), a 5G compatible technology, in a substantial boost to India’s 5G capabilities.
India has imported 2G, 3G, and 4G technology thus far. Despite the fact that some of these wireless devices are being built in the nation, the whole technology, intellectual property (patents), and design know-how were not available locally.
Researchers at IIT-H claim to have created these 5G technologies on their own, putting India on the cutting edge of 5G and beyond. The call was made utilizing a MIMO capable base station in the 3.3-3.5 GHz frequency range with a 100MHz bandwidth.

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) created by the Indian government in 2008. WiSig Networks was founded in 2016 by a group of researchers and innovators with the goal of further developing and commercializing novel 5G communication technologies that were created in the United States.
