This Startup Helps in shipping automation, Ecommerce workflow automations and post-purchase solutions | Shipway

Startup Story had the privilege to host and interview with Sandeep, AVP-Marketing, Shipway. During the discussion he shared, Vikas Garg and Gaurav Gupta are the minds who came up with a solution to shrink the manual processing of order fulfillment in the e-commerce industry, providing easy and fast delivery experience to D2C section customers.
Today, Shipway technologies prides themselves for creating a ‘SUPERAPP’ said Sandeep, it helps to empower D2C eCommerce brands providing end-to-end shipping automations along with delivering a high efficient post purchase experience.

About the startup

Sandeep told Startup story that Shipway is ideal for anyone selling online and trying to establish a direct to consumer (D2C) brand with the motive to offer like Amazon and Myntra kind of experience.

They had started off as a tracking and notification company back in 2015 and slowly broadened their area of service covering all kinds of shipping automation. Their services range from end to end shipping  automations starting from providing logistic aggregation to customer experience. The idea behind this solution is to automate the ecommerce workflow and automating all the back office operations task at one place.

Explaining the timeline of the change in the e-commerce market he explained to Startup story that primarily, most people preferred selling their products on a marketplace or largely known sites like amazon, myntra etc. Eventually realising that paying commission to these sites could be cut down by starting their own website and also defining the brand story.  This realization turned out to be a revolutionary change as various other channels emerged such as shopify which helped users in creating their own handles he then explained their role in the entire process which was how to maintain the customer experience and smooth delivery of the items and minimising hassle.

Services on the superapp

Sandeep answered the query and explained the services they provide included Shipping service automation, courier aggregation, order processing,  Oms systems, fraud prevention and detection.  Ndr automation system and post purchase service dealing with refunds and exchanges.

He added that at Shipway they integrate the 3PL partners so as to provide a complete workflow, where they can be independent of their decision making on the carrier partners  and can manage their flow under one system. So the efficiency increases and dependency on manual work and force decreases.

Competition in the market

Sandeep named Shiprocket as their competition in the market, they emerged as a carrier aggregation company while Shipway he said is a tech based company dealing in end to end automation. So these companies like Shiprocket can eventually be called as their 3pl partners. Because Shipway is integrated with various aggregators which makes them more versatile in terms of the entire automation or post purchase experience site.

Growth in the recent years

Sandeep told Startup story that during the pandemic people started to rely on e-commerce websites more than ever, that being said it turned out as a boon in disguise as they saw 4x growth during this period.
