TalkEsport Secures $1 Million in Funding to Boost Indian Esports Media Presence

Indian esports media platform TalkEsport has successfully raised $1 million in a Pre-Series A funding round. The funding effort was led by Saswat Ventures, with aims to expand TalkEsport’s offerings and consolidate its status as a leading media entity in the regional esports arena.
Founded in 2011, TalkEsport has grown to become one of the most influential esports outlets in India, providing extensive coverage of numerous tournaments both domestically and in nearby regions. The platform’s forthcoming initiatives include scaling up its existing website, launching a dedicated mobile app, and establishing a production studio in Mumbai. This new studio will focus on developing original content IPs that cater to the gaming and esports industries.
The new mobile app from TalkEsport is designed to offer users comprehensive features such as tournament coverage, live scoring, and the opportunity to participate in competitions. This integrated approach aims to allow users to access content and engage with the community through a single platform.
The Indian esports sector has seen remarkable growth, evidenced by a meeting in April 2024 between industry stakeholders and the Prime Minister to discuss further developments in the field. This meeting highlights the increasing recognition and support for esports within the national agenda.
In addition to facilitating growth in the media space, the surge in the esports industry in India has also spurred the creation of new companies. Notable among these is Trident Gaming, established by esports veterans Abhijeet ‘Ghatak’ Andhare and Sunny ‘Fea’ Lohia, which focuses on grassroots esports initiatives.
