The Inspirational Story of Dilkhush Kumar, From Rickshaw Puller to Startup Founder | RodBez

Dilkhush Kumar’s story is one of perseverance, hard work, and determination. From being a rickshaw puller and vegetable vendor to the founder and CEO of a Rodbez company worth crores, his journey is an inspiration to many.

Starting from Scratch

Dilkhush Kumar hails from a small village in Bihar’s Saharsa district. He only completed his education till Class 12 and wanted to start something of his own. After being rejected from several job interviews, Dilkhush decided to start a taxi service in Bihar. But unlike other taxi service providers like Uber or Ola, he founded RodBez – a database company that connects customers with taxi drivers for outstation travel of more than 50 km.

Building a Dream Team

Graduates from prestigious institutions like IIT Guwahati joined RodBez and supported Dilkhush’s vision. He also claimed that some students from IIM have also joined his startup on a part-time basis.

Overcoming Adversity

Dilkhush’s journey was not an easy one. He used to be a rickshaw puller in Delhi and sold vegetables on the streets of Patna. When he went for a job interview as a guard, he was considered unpolished and uneducated. However, he never gave up as he had a family to feed. Dilkhush learned to drive from his father, who was a bus driver. He only completed his education till Class 12 due to a lack of money and started driving to earn money.

The Road to Success

Dilkhush started RodBez with just a second-hand Tata Nano. But in just 6-7 months after starting RodBez, Dilkhush and his team were able to raise funds worth Rs 4 crore. Currently, the company is providing service from Patna to every village in Bihar in the first phase. In the second phase, it will connect city to city. Their vision is to connect every village of Bihar with a taxi. Later, they plan to expand the services outside Bihar as well.

Fair Wages for Drivers

The best part about RodBez is the remuneration the startup provides to drivers. Dilkhush understands the lives of the drivers and the company pays around Rs 55,000 to 60,000 per month to them.

Believing in Yourself

Dilkhush Kumar’s story proves that if you want to succeed in life, just believe in yourself. From being a rickshaw puller to a startup icon, he has shown that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible.
