This revelation underscores the significant presence and influence of Snapchat among the city’s digital populace.

Snapchat, the multimedia instant messaging app developed by Snap Inc., has established itself as a preferred platform for social interaction and expression. A survey conducted by YouGov and Snapchat revealed that 80% of Bengaluru users utilize Snapchat lenses to share greetings or commemorate festivals with their loved ones. Additionally, 78% of respondents appreciated Snapchat’s prowess in fostering enjoyable connections with friends and family.

Since its foray into the Indian market in 2019, Snapchat has witnessed remarkable growth, boasting a user base of 200 million in the country. Among these users, approximately 120 million are regular patrons of Snapchat’s Story and Spotlight features. Notably, Spotlight—a feature dedicated to user-generated content such as short videos—has garnered substantial traction in India, with users spending three times more time on the feature compared to their counterparts in other countries.

During its debut event in Bengaluru, Snapchat emphasized its unique appeal to young audiences, reaching over 75% of individuals aged between 13 and 34 in more than 20 countries. Pulkit Trivedi, Managing Director of Snap India, articulated the significance of Snapchat’s platform in engaging dynamic young users, stating, “Snapchat offers a unique platform for engaging these young audiences in creative ways, standing out as a vibrant hub for dynamic users who are not readily accessible on other platforms.”

Despite challenges in revenue growth, Snapchat’s global expansion remains robust, with notable growth occurring outside traditional markets like North America and Europe. According to a Reuters report, the company’s full-year revenue for 2023 stood at $4.6 billion, unchanged from the previous year. This stability underscores Snapchat’s resilience and continued appeal in diverse markets worldwide.
