Agilitas Sports raises Rs 225 Cr from Nexus Venture Partners and Rainmatter

Vertically integrated sportswear and athleisure company Agilitas Sports has raised Rs 225 crore from Nexus Venture Partners and Rainmatter. The round includes a Rs 200 crore follow-on investment from Nexus and Rs 25 crore from Rainmatter.

In 2023, Agilitas acquired Mochiko Shoes, a sports footwear manufacturer that produces shoes for global brands such as Adidas and Puma. Cricketer Virat Kohli also transferred his sports and lifestyle brand One8 to the company and invested Rs 40 crore. Agilitas had previously raised Rs 100 crore (around $12 million) from Nexus Venture Partners in December 2023.

The fresh capital will be deployed towards product research and development, design, manufacturing capacity, retail expansion, technology, talent acquisition, and brand building, the company said in a press release.

Founded in 2023 by Abhishek Ganguly, former Managing Director of Puma India and Southeast Asia, Agilitas operates across sports footwear, apparel, and accessories.

The company is building an integrated platform that combines R&D, design, manufacturing, and retail, enabling faster response to consumer demand in the growing athleisure market in India and overseas.

Agilitas is also expanding Sportsyard, its large-format multi-brand retail chain that houses brands including Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics, Puma, and Skechers. The company said its first Bengaluru store became profitable within two months of launch and that it plans to open 10 more Sportsyard outlets during the current financial year.

Agilitas also holds exclusive long-term licensing rights to manufacture and distribute the Lotto sportswear brand across India, Australia, and South Africa. The company expects ecommerce, including marketplaces and its own channels, to contribute 25–30% of its overall revenue.
