Netcon Technologies Invests in Travel Tech Startup Nikitek

Bengaluru-based Netcon Technologies, a leading IT infrastructure company, has announced a strategic investment in Nikitek, a Pune-based tech startup specializing in travel technology solutions. The investment, facilitated through a subsidiary of the Netcon Group, underscores a commitment to fostering digitally enabled and eco-friendly travel experiences.

Mahalingam Ramasamy, Founder & Managing Director of Netcon Technologies, expressed the significance of this partnership, stating, “Our strategic investment in Nikitek marks a significant stride in making air travel more accessible, sustainable, and efficient. Through this ingenious technology, we will transform baggage handling into a hassle-free experience for both passengers, airlines, and airports while advancing our net zero carbon goals and solidifying our position as a leader in aviation solutions.”

Vinod Philips, Founder and CEO of Nikitek, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Our shared vision of driving innovation and sustainability in airline operations is set to deliver a future of seamless, digitally enhanced, and eco-friendly travel experiences.”

The undisclosed investment is poised to fuel Nikitek’s initiatives in technology enhancements, go-to-market strategies, and integrations of value-added services, accelerating its market entry plans for the product.

“The future of aviation is digital, sustainable, and hyper-personalized. Our partnership with Nikitek will unlock a new era of seamless travel, where technology empowers passengers, airlines, and airports to work in perfect harmony. This is just the beginning of our shared mission to redefine the travel experience for generations to come,” remarked Mohamed Ashiq, CEO of Netcon Technologies.

The investment agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony held on April 9 at Netcon’s Bengaluru headquarters, attended by Mahalingam Ramasamy and Vinod Philips.

The transaction’s strategic advisors include the investment banking team from Zaikenn Technologies and Sujeet Mukherjee from 99 Million Partners.

Nikitek has also introduced what it claims to be India’s first electronic baggage tag–godigitag–a digital technology solution aimed at replacing traditional paper bag tags with an eco-friendly alternative.

The collaboration between Netcon Technologies and Nikitek signifies a landmark partnership poised to revolutionize the travel industry, paving the way for enhanced efficiency, sustainability, and passenger experiences in the digital age.
