Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal has invested $20 million in ShopOS, an artificial intelligence-led operating system for e-commerce brands, through his venture fund 3STATE Ventures. The capital infusion will be utilized to scale the startup’s engineering and product teams, and to onboard a wider portfolio of global brands as the company sets its sights on international expansion.
Founded by Sai Krishna V K and Ajay P V, who previously built the AI/AR startup Scapic (later acquired by Flipkart), ShopOS is positioning itself as a next-generation platform designed to simplify and optimize how e-commerce brands function. The founding team also includes Karan Sonawala, who formerly led immersive technology initiatives at Flipkart. The trio brings deep domain expertise in building commerce and AI tools, and now aims to replace the current patchwork of disconnected e-commerce tools with a seamless, AI-native operating system.
ShopOS uses artificial intelligence agents to automate three core functions of digital commerce—content creation, marketing, and storefront management. The platform allows brands to generate product visuals and copy in real-time, automate localized marketing campaigns, and adapt their storefronts dynamically based on user behavior. According to the company, this holistic and autonomous approach will significantly reduce operational complexity while enhancing efficiency and personalization.
Binny Bansal, in a statement, emphasized that ShopOS is building a future-ready commerce stack with AI at its core. He noted that the platform’s focus on hyper-personalization and cross-border e-commerce could be transformational for brands navigating increasingly fragmented digital markets. The investment marks one of Bansal’s largest personal bets since exiting Flipkart and signals his confidence in the future of agentic AI—where autonomous software systems perform complex business functions traditionally handled by human teams.
ShopOS has already begun serving customers in India, Europe, and the UAE and is actively working towards expanding its footprint to serve hundreds of brands globally. The founders, echoing their global ambitions, stated that ShopOS is being built “from India for the globe” and will continue to harness India’s deep pool of AI talent to scale its offerings.
Speaking about the market need, the co-founders highlighted that traditional e-commerce tools have often limited the very brands they were meant to empower. They believe that generative commerce is entering a new phase, wherein AI agents do not merely assist but actively execute critical business operations, marking a fundamental shift in how digital-first brands operate.
This development comes at a time when interest in agentic AI startups is rapidly growing. These startups are leveraging generative and autonomous intelligence to streamline sales, marketing, and operational workflows. ShopOS is placing a major bet on this transition, anticipating that its AI-led system will redefine how brands engage with customers and scale efficiently across multiple markets.
