D2C Online Casual Sneakers brand: Flatheads gets investments via TV Actor & Cricket Presenter Gaurav Kapur

Flatheads, the direct-to-customer (D2C) online casual sneakers brand has received an undisclosed amount of funding from TV actor and cricket presenter Gaurav Kapur. The startup was also joined by Kapur as its brand ambassador.
To launch back-to-back digital campaigns with Kapur this year in order to promote its products has also been planned by the brand. Flatheads aims at widening its visibility in the digital world, with the help of this partnership.
In a Pre-Series A funding round led by startup investment platform We Founder Circle and Dexter Angels, Flatheads raised $1 Mn (around INR 7.3 Cr) in September 2021.
Other investors including Sahil Barua (cofounder, Delhivery), Gaurav Kapur (founder of Oaktree Sports), and Radhika Ghai (cofounder, ShopClues) were also witnessed participating in the round.
Since its inception in 2019, a total of $1.6 Mn in funding has been raised by Flatheads, its spokesperson in a report.

Flatheads, founded by Ganesh Balakrishnan and Utkarsh Biradar, designs all-day wear casual sneakers for urban customers. Previously, they founded and successfully exited a fintech startup, Momoe.
In order to introduce bamboo and banana fiber sneakers suited for the tropical climate in India, Flatheads claims to be the only brand.
Recently, KoolTex trainers through which it brought Kool Tex/Dry Fit technology to sneakers has been launched by Bengaluru-based Flatheads. To launch 2-3 new products this year has been planned by the startup.
Meanwhile, Bollywood celebrities, TV actors, cricketers, and presenters in the past have long been associated with many startups. From Anushka Sharma (Meat Startup Blue Tribe, D2C fashion line Nush) to Sara Ali Khan ( D2C startup The Souled Store), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (nutrition-based healthcare startup Possible), everyone has been attracted by the startups’ charm.
