During the Regional Innovation Forum, Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO and Chairman of C-DOT Project Board, mentioned that the Indian state-owned research and development organisation, C-DOT, has a fund of more than Rs 700 crore to support startups. He further added that the Indian government has not imposed any limit on funding innovation, thereby indicating their strong support for it.
Additionally, Upadhyay stated that several ministers from neighbouring countries have shown interest in collaborating with India in the field of technology, which will facilitate the expansion of indigenous innovation beyond the boundaries of the country.
Upadhyay explained that “the government has different funding schemes to support innovation, some of which are accessible via C-DoT. He mentioned that they have a fund of Rs 700 crore allocated for supporting startups, but there is no cap on the funding amount if they come across a promising innovation”.

During their visit to the C-DoT campus, a delegation comprising communications ministers from Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Iran, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh showed interest in collaborating with India in the field of technology.
The International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Area Office and Innovation Centre has been established on the campus, and it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
According to Upadhyay, “an innovation centre has been set up by C-DoT close to the ITU office, providing startups with essential infrastructure and 5G technology testing facilities. Upadhyay also mentioned that C-DoT aims to take the technologies created by these startups worldwide with the support of ITU”.
