Girgit, a color changing clothing brand raises Rs. 20 Lakh led by Shark Namita Thapar at Shark Tank S2

In Shark Tank India’s season two, the founder of India’s first color-changing clothing brand, Girgit, Pooja Bajaj Shah, raised Rs. 20 lakh, led by Shark Tank India judge and executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar.

The startup manufactures and sells a wide variety of products like shorts, shoes, smartwatches, and clothes that can change color upon coming into contact with different temperatures, just like a girgit (chameleon). The founder wants to bring a little shine to clothes.

As per reports, the CEO has sold merchandise to the tune of Rs. 58 lakh within a year of inception. They currently have 1,800 customers. The clothing brand has expanded its business by launching color-changing clothes for adults as well. Their shoes cost anywhere between Rs. 2000 for kids and Rs. 3000 for adults.

Girgit, a brainchild of Pooja, was born during the pandemic when her husband, Benoy Shah, showed her a color-changing pigment used in textile industries. Benoy is currently the startup’s advisor.

Out of the five judges on Shark Tank India, only Thapar extended efforts to aid the startup. Other sharks rejected the offer as they saw issues with scaling the business. Pooja Bajaj Shah accepted Thapar’s offer.
