Cold chain startup Celcius raises $4.5 million in bridge funding round

A cold chain marketplace, Celcius, raises $4.5 million funds in pre-Series A funding from a bunch of investors, like Mumbai Angels, Supply Chain Labs, Endurance Capital, VCats, Keiretsu Forum, Huddle, EVAN and others.

Founded in November 2020 by Swarup Bose, Arbind Jain and Rajneesh Raman, Mumbai- based Celcius is India’s first cold chain marketplace. It provides SaaS cold-chain aggregator platform, where transporters and manufacturers of perishable goods are on a common platform, where they can book a reefer truck or cold storage and match with each other on the basis of availability and demand.

Celcius has on-boarded 2500 vehicles, 107 Cold storages, increased operations in over 150 cities, and exhibited over 20 times the initial predicted growth.

Celcius will use the new funds for scaling up their business to over 500 cities across India. They intend to use their cold storage network to transport covid vaccine and other perishable goods to the remotest corners of the country.

Celcius also plans to increase the headcount of employees across the tech, sales and operations team.

It has recently launched Vahan Vikas Samriddhi programme, through which it aims to financially support regional transport entrepreneurs and encourage them to venture into the cold chain segment. It aims to use the new funds for small-scale and regional transporters across the country.
