Zomato Joins Forces with Battery Smart to Drive Green Deliveries Through EV Adoption

Zomato, the prominent food ordering and delivery platform, has teamed up with Battery Smart, a battery swapping network specializing in electric two and three-wheelers. This collaboration is geared towards promoting eco-friendly last-mile deliveries and encouraging delivery partners to make the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). Under this partnership, Zomato’s delivery partners gain access to Battery Smart’s extensive network of over 800 Swap Stations across more than 30 cities.

To inaugurate this collaboration, Zomato and Battery Smart jointly organized a groundbreaking event named the ‘EV Mela’ in Delhi last month. The event aimed to raise awareness among two-wheeler-based delivery partners about the benefits of adopting EVs and showcased Battery Smart’s innovative battery-as-a-service model, which effectively curbs upfront battery costs and eliminates concerns related to limited travel range. The EV Mela witnessed active participation from numerous EV enthusiasts, primarily delivery partners of Zomato. The event also included contributions from vehicle partners like Lectrix and Fujiyama, along with financing partners Revfin and Mufin.

Rinshul Chandra, COO of Zomato’s Food Ordering & Delivery Business, stated, “At Zomato, we are committed to achieving 100% EV adoption by 2030 and are the first food delivery company globally to join Climate Group’s EV100 campaign. This association with Battery Smart adds further momentum to our commitment as our delivery partners can now leverage a vast and accessible network of battery swapping stations. The EV Mela, in addition, was a great awareness generation platform for our delivery partners.”

Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder of Battery Smart, expressed his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to associate with Zomato – an association that empowers both new and existing delivery partners to join the EV revolution. The EV Mela initiative aimed to raise awareness among delivery partners about the positive impact of transitioning to electric mobility. Our focus also extended to sensitize them about crucial safety protocols and standards, thus ensuring a safer EV adoption experience for delivery partners.”

Given that India’s food delivery market heavily relies on two-wheelers, the potential to electrify delivery fleets, reduce costs, and promote sustainability is substantial. Battery Smart’s expansive network of battery swapping stations, spanning Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, presents Zomato’s delivery partners with the means to carry out eco-friendly deliveries.
