VMLY & R, a company of the WPP group, has announced an exclusive partnership with the leading provider of e-commerce solutions Shopmatic.
The agreement includes the creation of a co-branded trading platform that will provide direct trading solutions to consumers and third parties through a range of channels for WPP customers. This makes VMLY&R the only consultancy or network to provide end-to-end commerce solutions to clients, the company said in a statement. The partnership was signed through VMLY&R’s headquarters in Asia. The platform will be rolled out first in India later this year before going global.
Shopmatic, based in Singapore, offers a range of e-commerce solutions for small businesses and individuals, including the ability to sell products across four channels (chat, social media, marketplaces and online stores), as well as manage stores in multiple markets on a platform. The exclusive partnership with VMLY&R opens up the same channels for WPP customers and enables VMLY&R to provide an end-to-end trading solution from consulting to transaction completion and last-mile logistics.
VMLY&R is a global brand and customer experience agency behind award-winning campaigns for leading clients such as Colgate, Palmolive, Danone, Dell, Ford, Intel and Wendy`s.
With Shopmatic on board, VMLY & R will offer its customers social commerce, rural commerce and general commerce solutions.
Hari Ramanathan, director of the strategy and transformation for VMLY&R Asia, said the partnership with Shopmatic will enable the agency to move clients to direct-to-consumer models and to third-party margin-friendly.
In its seven years of operation, Shopmatic has added one million merchants and generated a gross trade value (GMV) of US$400 million. The company is on track to break the $5 million mark with a $3 billion GMV over the next three years.
