Elon Musk Plans to Incorporate AI Startup xAI into Social Media Platform X

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, is set to become an integral part of his social media platform, X, and will also be available as a standalone app, as announced in a post on Sunday.

Musk revealed that xAI has released its first AI model, a chatbot named Grok, which was made accessible to all X Premium+ subscribers on Friday. The primary objective of this startup is to develop AI tools that aid humanity in its pursuit of knowledge and understanding. Grok, in particular, has been designed to respond to questions with a touch of humor.

Elon Musk, a vocal critic of Big Tech’s AI initiatives, launched xAI in July, branding it a “maximum truth-seeking AI” that seeks to fathom the intricacies of the universe, competing with Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing AI.

Musk emphasized the advantage of Grok’s real-time access to information through the X platform, distinguishing it from other AI models.

It’s worth noting that X, previously known as Twitter and owned by Musk, is distinct from xAI, but the two companies maintain a close working relationship. xAI collaborates not only with X but also with Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla, and various other firms.

Recently, Musk conveyed his belief to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that AI stands as “the most disruptive force in history.” He speculated that AI has the potential to handle nearly everything and could fundamentally alter the nature of employment as we currently understand it. Musk shared these thoughts during the inaugural global AI Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park, England.

It’s worth recalling that in 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, the organization behind ChatGPT, which has ignited worldwide interest in generative AI technology. However, he stepped down from the board of OpenAI in 2018.
