Golechha Bioscience: From Small Town to International Nutritional Supplement Powerhouse


Startup Story Media had the privilege of interviewing all remarkable founders: Mr. Rajkumar Golechha, Dr. Nikhil, CA.Nilesh, Dr. Bhushan, Dr. Nitin and Er. Rounak, from the highly successful company, Golecha Bioscience’s Mr. Rajkumar, the Managing Director of the company, expressed his pride in their achievements, emphasizing his 40 years of prior experience in pharma field.

Golechha Bioscience, based in a small town, has flourished with three branches, providing clients with a comprehensive range of nutritional supplements, including tablets, capsules, powder, granules, syrups and various other products, for the past decade. Notably, they also export their supplements to the USA, Canada, Europe and South Africa. Their flagship product, the Coconut Water Powder Premix, has gained immense popularity, boasting 13 different natural flavors. 

Additionally, the company has obtained licenses from both the USA, Europe, Canada, South Africa and many others. This family-owned business has successfully realized the dreams of their late family members Ex-Managing Director Mr. Dilipkumar Golechha and continues to reach new heights. With a team of six directors and over 40 staff members, Golecha Bioscience is a diverse group consisting of professionals from different backgrounds, including chartered accountants, engineers, doctors, and PhD holders.

Their journey began with a single product, but they have since expanded their offerings to an impressive portfolio of over 350+ products. Rajkumar Golechha shared that the transition from being a businessman to a manufacturer was a significant challenge, but their ability to adapt and learn quickly allowed them to overcome obstacles. With all directors at the helm, the management aspect of the company was well taken care of.

Dr. Nikhil, the second director having 16+years of experience in research and development, shed light on their unique selling proposition (USP). He emphasized the growing global market for nutritional products, highlighting the company’s ability to provide a one-stop-shop solution for all nutritional needs. 

With a decade of experience, Golechha Bioscience has thrived by focusing on the concept-to-manufacturing approach, particularly in the nutraceutical sector. Although the nutraceutical trends were relatively new in India, they found acceptance in foreign countries, which contributed to their current success. He went on to explain the essence of their services due to the wide range of products they offer. Nutraceuticals, he clarified, bridge the gap between food and medicine, as they are vital for daily consumption to prevent diseases and enhance individuals’ self-esteem.

Nilesh, third director, by profession chartered accountants having 12+years of experience and the backbone of company. He is playing a vital role in managing the funds and their compliances. He is a Chief Financial Officer and thus making a role for long term growth and planning of the company. Finance is the backbone of any company growth. He is confident that GBPL growth will be as per their strategies plan. He is happy with the performance of the company in this decade and have a next decade plan for the company.

Dr. Bhushan, Fourth Director, by profession dentist and having 10+ years of management experience and he is a Chief Operating Officer, under his leadership plants carries their daily operations. He proudly mentioned that Golechha Bioscience was the first company to venture into this field with having state-of-art plants and having significant production capacity, making them pioneers in Maharashtra India. While they serve various segments such as government supply, brand supply, export, and third-party manufacturer arrangements, their primary focus lies in expanding their export range in upcoming time. Presently, they export their products to 27 countries, including the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and several European nations. Dr. Nikhil’s PhD & research experience in Pharma adds further strength to the company’s expertise. This micro-specialization is at the core of their operations. He further discussed the challenges they faced, particularly during the COVID-19 outbreak. The pandemic brought about increased awareness of the importance of nutritional supplements, leading to a surge in demand. However, the company encountered initial difficulties during plant setup, such as a shortage of skilled workers because of small town,  management issues, and the daunting task of obtaining licenses a decade back.

Dr. Nitin, Fifth Director, by profession he is Endodontist and having 12+ years of experience and act as a Chief Media & Communication officer. He emphasised that the company now onwards focus on digital marketing and presence. He also informed that Golechha Bioscience currently operates majorly offline only , they have ambitious plans to embrace the digital realm after a decade of contemplating this transition. With an anticipated smoother process, they hope to fully leverage the benefits of digitalization and go online in big way. He is confident that the company can grow further with this transit.

Dr. Rounak, the Sixth director of Golechha Bioscience, shared their future aspirations during the interview. They aim to become a prominent player in the B2B nutraceutical sector while developing online strategies, establishing an internal marketing team, and expanding their production capabilities. The company’s journey serves as a testament to the dedication of their hardworking team. It demonstrates that a small-town business has the potential to achieve success and make a mark in multiple countries.
