From Digital entrepreneur to Ramp Coach – Payal Pokarna does it flawlessly

“I am a people’s person,” says Payal Pokarna, an entrepreneur, ramp coach, fashionista in an interview with Startup Story. Payal started her Digital media and PR company – Social Dot Com, four years ago, in 2018. It caters to jewelers, lifestyle brands, she handles a lot of PR shows for designers, entrepreneurs. She had an inclination towards fashion since always, she has worked with celebrities and designers, and managed a few ramp walk shows as well.

While managing these ramp walk shows, she learnt everything about this field, and she has seen that fashion has no age bar. Then she met a lot of people who were interested in ramp walking but they lacked the basic skills such as posture, make up, carrying themselves confidently, then during the lock down Payal wanted to do something else than her usual work, she started her journey as a ramp walk trainer, and coach, she got herself certified in various courses regarding ramp walking and fashion, and then she designed her own online module and course. She is currently working with a National Pageant Show,and a reality fashion show which will be aired soon as a mentor.  She wants to reach out to more and more people, and fulfill their dreams.

Inspiration behind this career 

Payal shares, “Since childhood I loved to dance and perform on stage, and basically connecting with people is what inspired me to start my open digital field. Before that I was just starting my online institute,and she wanted to go outside and see the world and be a part of it.” In this field, she has met with interesting people, came across inspiring stories,and she finds this entire working ecosystem of hers very engaging.

Managing motherhood and work 

When talking about motherhood, Payal says, “Motherhood is the most beautiful thing in life, I have an amazing son who is doing amazing in his own field. It all comes down to time management and how keen you are to move ahead with your  career. It is something both challenging and beautiful, I have an amazing family who is my cheerleader and biggest critic. ”

Future Plan

“My plan is to have no plan,and just go with the flow. I want to give 100% of myself in this current work. Suddenly my career turned towards this ramp coach, and let it upto destiny to figure out the rest for you,” Payal explains.

Having “me time”

Payal says, “ My time is when I am working.” Being on the field and being on her toes always is the most amazing thing for Payal. She is extremely passionate about work, and for her fitness, and balanced work is what comes first for her. At last Payal shares an inspirational advice “Life doesn’t end after you have a family. You should work on whatever skills you have, and not sit idly at home. There shouldn’t be any hesitation or fear in someone who wants to restart the second innings of their career, Follow your heart,” says Payal Pokarna.
