Where To Find The Best & Authentic Home Made Products – Homeprod Is The Answer
- ByStartupStory | August 31, 2021
“If you are good at something, let us help you earn out of it,” says the founder of Homeprod in an engazing interview with Startup Story. Addressing the nation earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s – “Vocal for Local” might have become the most potent slogan the country has heard in the last 5 decades. While ‘Vocal for Local’ is trending, it is nothing but an extension of the ‘Swadeshi Movement’. The movement, which started in the early 1900s, called for the use of locally-made products. We see and hear people supporting local/home made products; but access to these products have been restricted and unorganised. How can we make this industry accessible to all? and moreover, how do we help these home entrepreneurs get to a level playing field?

Inspiration and functioning of Homeprod
During the peak of Covid last year, many professionals across India lost their jobs; for some it was choosing between finding their next job and starting their own. In one such scenario, my friend of 20+ years decided to launch her own jewellery business. But there were a lot of questions that needed to be answered. How do you register and get GST certified? How do you promote these goods? How do you get access to customers? How do you ensure the end customer has a seamless experience? These questions and numerous brainstorming sessions conceived the idea of building a platform to support my friend. In the last few months, with the rise of revenge shopping, the need of a platform became a reality for thousands of home entrepreneurs, this is when we decided to launch Homeprod. With Homeprod, we aim to help entrepreneurs make a living out of the products they build with love; particularly those solo-entrepreneurs who are not GST registered. Lack of access to a level playing e-commerce field is what we aim to solve with our platform.
