Resha Mandi, India’s First Digital Sericulture Startup


Resha mandi, a Bangalore based sericulture startup with the help of AIIoT set up India’s first digital silk supply chain linking the customer to the farmer. Sericulture or the silk industry is one of the biggest textile businesses in India and the world. It was reported in February this year that under the Silk Samagra Programme Rs 2,000 crore had been allocated from the Union Budget for the development of the silk industry which was potentially supporting around 9.1 million Indians as employees. This report was brought into limelight by the Union Minister for Textiles and Women and Child Development Smriti Irani.

Mayank Tiwari, CEO of Resha mandi was first inspired to create this platform in 2020. In order to protect the silk industry that has a market worth Rs 266 billion as per estimated in 2019.

“Our services ensure that crops stay healthy via AI-based tracking, which has helped reduce crop failure by 80 percent, providing the farmer with higher production capacity, and eventually, higher revenue,”, Mayank says

Resha Mandi is the one of the first Indian platforms in the market where the farmer can complete the entire cycle of work involved in the producing and handling silk aided by technology. They work directly with the farmers to get the best market price while handling the entire supply chain and ensuring a sustainable ecosystem.
