Praan, a deep-tech firm, has raised an unknown sum in a new round of funding from global investors Aera VC, Climate Angels, and Sequoia Scouts. The round was also attended by Cool Climate Collective, film director Roshan Abbas, and angel investor Akshat Rajan.
Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Nipun Sahni (Apollo Global Management), and Paula Mariwala are among the Climate Angels (Seedfund Advisors). Global angel investors from Tesla, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and other companies are part of the Cool Climate Collective.
Praan was founded in 2017 by Angad Daryani with the goal of reducing urban air pollution through low-cost, filter-less, and AI-based outdoor air purification devices. Large-scale pilots have already commenced in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Large sections of its product are made in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Praan’s India team will be expanded, manufacturing will be accelerated, and the supply chain will be stabilized with the new finances. The current round of funding follows a $1.56 million financing in January.
In addition, the company has begun producing its goods in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Praan is also actively hiring in order to increase the rate of deployment in India.
