Deeptech Press Release

NVIDIA, Qualcomm join U.S., Indian VCs to help build India’s next deep tech startups

NVIDIA and Qualcomm Join U.S. and Indian VCs to Boost India’s Deep Tech Startups with $850 Million Funding

NVIDIA and Qualcomm Ventures have joined a powerful coalition of U.S. and Indian venture capital firms, known as the India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA), pledging over $850 million in new capital commitments to support early-stage deep tech startups in India. The IDTA, launched in September 2025 with an initial $1 billion commitment, aims to bridge the funding gap faced by research-heavy Indian startups focused on sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, robotics, space, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, energy, and climate technologies.

As founding members, NVIDIA joins as a strategic technical advisor providing expertise, training, and policy inputs to help startups adopt its AI and computing technologies. Qualcomm Ventures contributes both capital and market expertise, amplifying India’s frontier tech ecosystem. Other new investors include Activate AI, InfoEdge Ventures, Chiratae Ventures, and Kalaari Capital, enhancing the coalition’s reach and resources.

India hosts over 180,000 startups and more than 120 unicorns, but deep tech ventures face challenges securing funding due to their long development periods and higher risk profiles. Despite a 78% increase in deep-tech investment to $1.6 billion last year, such funding accounts for merely 20% of total startup capital raised. The alliance’s efforts complement the Indian government’s recent $12 billion research and development push aimed at achieving technological independence and competitiveness.

The IDTA plans to provide not only financial resources but also mentorship, industry connections, and collaboration with policymakers to foster a vibrant deep-tech ecosystem over the next 5 to 10 years.

In summary, NVIDIA and Qualcomm’s partnership with Indian venture firms to back deep tech startups through the India Deep Tech Alliance represents a significant commitment to accelerating innovation in critical technology areas, enhancing India’s position as a global hub for advanced technology development.
