MPL Acquires Stake in CloudFeather to Boost Gaming Tech Stack

Mobile Premier League (MPL), the leading gaming startup, announced today that it has acquired a significant stake in CloudFeather Games, a provider of gaming development tools, to expand its gaming ecosystem. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With this acquisition, MPL aims to integrate CloudFeather’s innovative gaming infrastructure solutions into its platform to enhance the gaming experience for its users. The partnership will allow MPL to leverage CloudFeather’s server infrastructure and wallet integration systems to further strengthen its technological capabilities.

“CloudFeather’s technical expertise will further strengthen our product roadmap and help us deliver even more innovative gaming experiences to our community of 120 Mn users worldwide,” said Namratha Swamy, Chief Operating Officer of MPL.

This strategic move is part of MPL’s broader efforts to enhance its position in the rapidly growing gaming sector. The startup, which offers a diverse range of more than 60 games, including fantasy sports, board games, quizzing, esports, and casual games, is currently reaching over 120 million users across Asia, Europe, and North America.

In its recent financial results, MPL’s parent company, M-League, reported a 22% rise in its operating revenue, reaching $127.9 million for FY24, up from $104.6 million in the previous fiscal year. Additionally, the company saw a remarkable 35% growth in its India revenue, which now stands at approximately $88 million.

Founded in 2018 by Sai Srinivas Kiran G and Shubh Malhotra, MPL has made significant strides in the gaming industry, with notable acquisitions and expansions. In 2022, the company acquired Berlin-based GameDuell to boost its operations across global markets and launched Mayhem Studios, its mobile game development arm. The studio recently raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Lumikai.

In 2023, MPL also ventured into the African market, launching its mobile gaming app in Nigeria in partnership with Africa-based mobile gaming publisher Carry1st. Despite facing some challenges, including workforce reductions in 2022 and the shutdown of its streaming service, MPL has continued to aggressively expand its global footprint.
