Jupiter Capital Launches $150 Mn Fund for Indian B2B SaaS Startups


Jupiter Capital, a Bengaluru-based private equity and venture capital firm has planned to launch a $150 million private equity fund targeting Asian tech and consumer brand companies with a focus on investing in SaaS companies. The ‘J Capital Asia Fund I’ will look to invest in 30 small and medium companies that need growth capital. The plan is to have the first close of $50 million in the first quarter of 2022-23.

“Jupiter Capital will be the anchor investor in the fund, while the majority of the capital will be raised from other investors in India and abroad. The fund will make investments in the range of $2-3 million to up to $10 million, said David Abikzir, the executive director and chief investment officer of Jupiter Capital, “My goal is to invest in disruptive models and opportunities, which are not built on the B2C model, but on the B2B SaaS model,” he added.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar-promoted Jupiter Capital, founded in 2005, has been a controlling investor in most of the
companies it invests in. Over the last year, there has been a shift at Jupiter Capital with a clear focus on establishing it as a serious private equity company. With the new fund, it is open to looking at minority stakes as well as making seed funding.
