Wiom Raises Rs 140 Crores in Series A Funding to Revolutionize Affordable Home Internet in India

Delhi-based start-up Wiom has raised Rs 140 crore in its Series A funding round led by RTP Global, with participation from investors including YourNest, Omidyar Network India, Global Brain, Blume Founders Fund, Alteria Capital, Stride Ventures, Stride One, and 9 Unicorns. The company aims to provide affordable and unlimited home internet to the next 100 million lower and middle-income households in India.

Founded in 2020 by Satyam Damora, Nishit Aggarwal, Ashutosh Mishra, and Maanas Dwivedi, Wiom operates as a new-age internet platform that purchases unused internet from existing users and offers it to those seeking affordable internet, with rates as low as INR 5 per day. Leveraging the PM WANI architecture, Wiom adopts shared economy and web 3.0 principles to achieve its objective of providing affordable home internet to all.

As a Public Data Office Aggregator (PDOA), Wiom authenticates users and connects them with their preferred local access point, charging a specific amount for its services. The company does not function as an ISP but rather disrupts the traditional internet delivery model.

With this latest funding, Wiom plans to expand its reach to cities across India and invest in high-quality talent and a distributed delivery architecture. The start-up aims to serve 5 crore homes and 50 crore individuals within the next 5 years.
