Veda VC Secures Rs 250 Crore in Initial Funding to Support Early-Stage Startups in India’s Tech Landscape

Veda VC, an early-stage venture capital fund, has successfully secured the initial round of funding, amounting to Rs 250 crore. This milestone was achieved with the support of prominent family offices and CXOs from startup companies. Veda VC specializes in backing startups during their early stages, from seed to pre-Series A. The fund, registered under SEBI as a Category 1 AIF, plans to invest between $250,000 and $1.25 million in Indian technology and tech-enabled ventures operating in sectors such as consumer internet, SaaS, fintech, and deep tech.

Established in 2019, Veda VC was founded by former startup founders and operators, including Vasant Rao, Ashis Nayak (Autoninja), Avijeet Alagathi (BYG), and Venus Dhuria (Appyhigh). Veda has a dedicated team focused on investing in frontier technologies like AI/ML, Computer Vision, and space tech. The fund operates as an Operator VC, a venture capital entity founded and run by experienced entrepreneurs who actively engage with portfolio companies on operational aspects like marketing, hiring, and GTM strategy.

“In 2019, we began as a community of founders aiming to assist other founders at the angel stage. Veda has become one of the most active seed investors, investing approximately $10 million annually across various startups,” said Vasant Rao, Founder and Managing Partner, of Veda VC, in a statement.

“As operators, we understand how tough the founder’s journey is, and having seen the ups and downs of building and scaling up a startup, we decided to start Veda to enable seed-stage founders with the knowledge and network to make better decisions,” added Avijeet Founder and Managing Partner, Veda VC.

Veda VC has invested in 46 startups to date, with over half of them subsequently securing investments from renowned backers like Sequoia, Accel, Kalaari Capital, Mayfair, and 3one4 Capital. The fund’s portfolio includes notable startups like Dukaan, Elo Elo, One Impression, Even Health, Rigi, and Agnikul, among others.
