Exampur, a test preparation portal for government jobs, has been acquired by ed-tech company upGrad for an unknown sum. This company is led by Ronnie Screwvala, who just paid $38 million to acquire Harappa Education.
Vivek Kumar and Vardan Gandhi co-founded Exampur in 2018, and they aim to generate Rs 70 crore in income this fiscal year. The acquisition of Exampur, according to upGrad, would enhance value by providing aspirants with online test series, free quizzes, and live scholarship examinations to analyse their professional competencies and speed up their learning process.
Candidates can simply access Exampur’s study material repositories and e-book portfolio at any time as per their convenience. The Noida-based startup claims to have a user base of over 10 million students and to offer more than 200 test-prep courses for govt. jobs. The majority of the content is delivered through its YouTube channels, with a particular emphasis on UPSC, SSC, defence, banking, teaching, and other state-level government job preparations.
Gaurav Kumar, upGrad’s president of corporate development said, “Test preparation is a high potential development driver inside the matrix we have developed for our learners’ integrated learning portfolios. I am aware that it has a high customer acquisition cost (CAC), but it also yields better results.”
In August of last year, upGrad, with a $1.2 billion value, joined the unicorn club. It is said to have received $225 million in a fresh round in June at a $2.25 billion valuation. The Mumbai-based company has more than 300 university partners and a learner base of over 3 million spread across more than 100 countries.
