Torus Robotics Secures $470,000 in Seed Funding from TNIFMC

Deeptech startup Torus Robotics has secured $470,000 in its seed funding round led by Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund Management Corporation (TNIFMC) through the Tamil Nadu Emerging Sector Seed Fund (TNESSF). Forge Innovation & Ventures from Coimbatore and SINE (Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship) at IIT Bombay also participated in the round.

The funding will be utilized to enhance Torus Robotics’ research and development operations, facilitating the swift transition of their technologies from the lab to the market. It will also support other critical aspects of the business, including innovation and growth.

Founded in 2019 in Chennai by Vignesh M, Vibhakar Senthil, and Abbhi Vignesh K, Torus Robotics aims to address the significant reliance on imported powertrain components for the electric vehicle (EV) market, particularly motors and controllers.

The startup claims to offer products that are at least 50% lighter and more compact, up to 15% more efficient, and cost-effective compared to conventional alternatives.

Through the FLCTD program facilitated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Torus Robotics has successfully secured funds for applications within the electric vehicle, industrial, and energy sectors.
