Swiggy launches free ambulance services for delivery executives and their dependents

Food delivery company, Swiggy has launched a free ambulance service for the convenience of its delivery executives and their families.

Swiggy has collaborated with Dial4242 Ambulance Services on this industry-first initiative. Swiggy’s delivery executives can use this service by calling the toll-free number 1800 267 4242.

If calling is not an option, they can still use the service in an emergency before, during, or after delivery by tapping the SOS button on their partner app.

There is no paperwork required in this process; the delivery executives simply need to verify their partner ID.

Swiggy has taken this service nationwide after testing it in Bengaluru, Delhi, NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata. It has so far recorded an average response time of 12 minutes based on test runs and other cases. Depending on the severity of the case, Dial4242 can immediately dispatch BLS (Basic Life Support) ambulances, cardiac ambulances, ALS (Advanced Life Support), Inter-State ambulances, COVID-19 ambulances, and hearse vehicles.

Mihir Rajesh Shah, Head of Operations, Swiggy said, “Swiggy is very conscious about the safety of its delivery executives and over the years, we have introduced products and policies that give top priority to their safety and well-being. Our delivery executives smoothly handle millions of deliveries a day, but emergencies can strike anytime, without notice.Keeping this in mind, Swiggy has launched a free ambulance service that is fast, on-demand and comprehensive as well Provides support and security when needed, as well as peace of mind.” Dial4242 will wait for the patient to begin treatment. We hope that this initiative will prove to be exemplary for other platforms as well.”

Anwarpasha Syed, a Pune-based delivery executive who has availed the service, said, “I contacted the Swiggy hotline team and within 15 minutes an ambulance reached the accident site. They took me to the hospital I visited. Told them and I got timely treatment for some major scratches/bruises etc. This is a great initiative by Swiggy and I will pass this on to my fellow executives.”

Sharing his experience Sanjeev Kumar, another executive from Gurugram said, “I directly contacted the toll free number and an ambulance reached me within 10 minutes. I am thankful to Swiggy for this prompt and free service. “

Swiggy launched an Emergency Support Service (ESS) in 2021 by including an SOS button on partner apps, allowing delivery executives to contact the Swiggy hotline, ambulance, or police while remaining silent. All delivery executives have also been given an identity card (ID card) that includes their emergency contact information and blood group.

The service is free of cost to delivery executives and their dependent family members (spouse and two children) who are covered under insurance provided by Swiggy.
