Social networking platform Slick for GenZ secures $1.6M in seed funding

Social networking platform for GenZ, Slick, has secured $1.6 million in a seed funding round, with WEH Ventures as the lead investor, along with participation from iSeed, Titan Capital (a current investor), and All In VC. The funding round also witnessed involvement from various angel investors, including Sumit Gupta, the founder of CoinDCX.

The company announced in a press release that the funding would be utilized to enhance the user experience of Slick, drive innovation, and create new features to attract more users. In a pre-seed round last year, Slick raised $500k led by the founders of Unacademy (Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, and Hemesh Singh) as well as other angel investors, such as Kunal Shah, Sujeet Kumar, and early-stage VCs Titan Capital and Blume Founders Fund.

Slick, which was established by Archit Nanda and Rachit Bansal, intends to be the go-to social networking platform for GenZ. It offers numerous innovative features such as candid profiles and anonymous compliments that allow users to discover social connections.

According to the company, Slick has already gained over 1 million users in India across more than 5,000 schools and colleges since its launch in December. This demonstrates the growing demand for a genuine and captivating social networking platform.

WEH Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund, announced the launch of its second fund with a target to raise Rs 100 crore in June 2021. The fund has already invested in several category-leading companies, including smallcase, Jar, Masterchow, Appsforbharat, and Pratilipi.
