Sixth Sense Ventures, a domestic consumer-focused venture fund, has invested Rs 132 crores in Nobel Hygiene Pvt Ltd, a Mumbai-based maker of hygiene supplies.
Nobel Hygiene will use the funds to enhance its production capabilities and accelerate its growth trajectory toward being a global leader in absorption hygiene solutions. Nobel Hygiene, one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of disposable hygiene products, was formed in 2000 by company founder Kamal Johari.
Nobel Hygiene, founded in 2000, was the first to offer adult diapers to the Indian market, and has since continually innovated to develop world-class hygiene products for adults under the brand name ‘Friends,’ as well as a wide variety of infant care products under the brand name ‘Teddyy.’

The company will raise Rs 450-500 crores in an investment round led by Quadria Capital in June 2021. Sixth Sense Ventures also purchased shares in a separate parallel deal from other angel investors during this round, while PE investors CLSA Capital Partners, Access India fund, and co-investors departed the venture. In the closure of this merger, legal partners Khaitan & Co. and ICUL represented Nobel Hygiene and Sixth Sense Ventures, respectively.
“Now that our factory expansion in Gujarat is complete, we are poised to manufacture more, better, and faster to meet increasing demands across the country. This, alongside the investment, will help us progress towards our goals in the coming years; making up for the COVID slump the industry experienced in the last few years. I trust this association will be highly beneficial for all the stakeholders of Nobel Hygiene,” Kamal Johari, MD, and CEO of Nobel Hygiene said.
Currently, in addition to producing its own brands, Nobel Hygiene also manufactures diapers for private label requirements by other SME’s in India, as well as exporting to numerous countries, including Australia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and portions of Africa. Nobel Hygiene pioneered the adult diaper sector in India with its brand “Friends.” The firm has two production sites in Halol, Gujarat, and Nashik, Maharashtra.
