Sapience Automata Secures INR 1.75 Crore in Seed Funding to Enhance Road Safety with AI-Driven Technology

AI powered driver assistance technology startup Sapience Automata has announced a successful seed funding round, raising INR 1.75 crore. The investment round was led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), a firm known for backing innovative solutions to critical problems.

Founded in 2021, Sapience Automata is dedicated to reducing road accidents through its advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) tailored specifically for Indian roads. The new funds will be channeled towards expanding sales of their Driver Camera, building essential partnerships in the automotive sector, enhancing their ADAS technology, and securing international patents.

Satyajit Neogi, the Co-Founder, Chief Executive, and Technology Officer of Sapience Automata, highlighted the urgency of their mission, stating, “India reports 1.5 lakh deaths and 5 lakh critical injuries every year from road accidents and it’s growing. We are committed to reduce road accidents in India by 90% by 2030.” He added, “We started by building plug n play cutting-edge ADAS technology custom made for Indian conditions, to prevent road accidents due to human errors such as distraction and drowsiness.”

The startup’s unique selling proposition lies in its robust technology team and its custom-designed products that cater to the specific challenges of Indian driving conditions. This strategic focus not only enhances the effectiveness of their solutions but also ensures maximum safety for drivers across the nation.

Vikram Ramasubramanian, Partner at Inflection Point Ventures, expressed his support for Sapience Automata’s mission, stating, “Most of us know someone whose family member or close one has experienced a major road accident. It is an unfortunate reality that can’t be helped, given our dependence on different modes of transportation and driver’s circumstance. Sapience, with their AI-powered tech, reduces such unavoidable reality. IPV will always focus on supporting startups that offer innovative solutions to significant problems, and Sapience’s approach is one we’ll continue to endorse.”

Currently operating primarily from Bangalore and focusing on commercial fleets, Sapience Automata is laying the groundwork for future expansion into the B2C market. The company has already achieved significant milestones, including the launch of their Driver Camera and the development of a final prototype for their ADAS camera. Additionally, their efforts have been recognized with the SISFS grant, further demonstrating their commitment to automotive safety innovation.

With road traffic crashes ranking as the 13th largest contributor to health burden in India over the past decade, the need for improved road and vehicle safety is clear. Sapience Automata’s advancements in AI and autonomous driving technology represent a promising step forward in meeting this critical challenge.
