Reliance Jiomart and Meta partner to offer grocery shopping through WhatsApp

Meta Platforms Inc, WhatsApp’s parent company, announced on Monday that it will collaborate with Reliance JioMart to offer a service in which WhatsApp users may buy groceries from the Indian retailer using the messaging network. 

The statement was made by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, at the annual general meeting (AGM) 2022 of Reliance Industries Ltd., JioMart’s parent company. “I am very excited to begin our collaboration with JioMart in India.” “This is our first-ever end-to-end purchasing experience on WhatsApp; customers can now buy groceries from JioMart directly in a chat,” Zuckerberg added. 

“Business messaging is gaining traction, and chat-based experiences like this will be the primary way consumers and organisations communicate in the coming years,” he stated on Facebook.

“This will enable users in India, including those who have never shopped online before, to seamlessly browse through JioMart’s entire grocery catalogue, add items to cart, and make the payment to complete the purchase – all without leaving the WhatsApp chat,” according to a Reliance press release. 

Reliance Digital boosted the company’s own brand presence, according to Isha Ambani, head of Reliance Retail Ventures, by launching various new goods across categories.

The first-ever end-to-end shopping experience with JioMart on WhatsApp is one example of an innovative consumer experience that we are pleased to develop. The JioMart on WhatsApp experience furthers our commitment to allowing a simple and convenient means of online buying.”
