Rahul Roy Chowdhury appointed as new CEO of Grammarly


The San Francisco-based company, Grammarly that provides assistance in writing English that includes Grammar, punctuation, spelling and plagiarism check, has announced Indian origin Rahul Roy Chowdhury as its new CEO from May 1, 2023. Currently he is serving as the global head of product.

Rahul Roy expressed on Twitter that his purpose for joining Grammarly two years ago was to enhance people’s lives through better communication.

In a tweet, Rahul Roy conveyed that “he had joined Grammarly with a strong conviction in their objective to enhance people’s lives by improving communication, and he feels privileged to lead the company in fulfilling that mission as its new CEO from May 1. He also added that they are still in the early stages of their journey”.

The announcement of Rahul Roy Chowdhury as the new CEO of Grammarly was made on the company’s official website by the current CEO Brad Hoover. He characterised Rahul Roy as a person driven by the mission and devoted to enhancing user experience.

According to Brad Hoover’s statement on Grammarly’s official website, “Rahul Roy’s product and technology expertise is an enormous advantage that can aid the company in charting its future course. He also acknowledged Rahul’s mission-driven mindset and user-centric approach. Furthermore, he added that Rahul’s experience of developing Chrome into a platform could facilitate the company’s expansion at a more rapid pace”.

He also emphasised that “Rahul had been instrumental in elevating the company’s standards, driving progress, and challenging conventional thinking. Hoover also praised Rahul’s ability to make informed judgments and sound decisions, which contributed to the organisation’s advancement”.

Brad Hoover further stated on the company’s official website that “under Rahul Roy’s leadership as the global head of product, Grammarly made significant progress in product development. The quality was enhanced, and new solutions were introduced to assist beyond the revision phase of communication”.

Prior to joining Grammarly, Rahul Roy Chowdhury served as the vice president of product management at Google for 14 years. He made the move to the San Francisco-based company from the tech giant.
