Perfora raises $1 million in a seed funding led by Sauce.VC and other strategic investors


Perfora, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) oral wellness and beauty company, has secured $1 million in a seed round headed by Sauce.VC and other influential backers like the Lotus Herbals Family Office, Shiprocket Group, and Sara International Group. The company plans to use the money to increase distribution, boost brand positioning, hire more employees, and launch a variety of cutting-edge dental care products.

The Perfora product line, which was introduced in August 2021 by Jatan Bawa and Tushar Khurana, consists of an electric toothbrush, probiotic mouthwash, N-Ha toothpaste, a smart flosser, and a pen for the peroxide-free teeth whitening. Perfora is challenging established competitors with a novel approach to the category’s product lines and distribution, much like many other new-generation beauty and personal care brands.

“With our superior and efficient dental care products, we hope to have a significant impact on people’s daily lives,” according to Bawa. The company currently sells its goods to customers directly through its website and platforms including Amazon India, Swiggy Instamart, and Nykaa.

According to Manu Chandra, managing partner of Sauce.VC, “consumers have started investing in products that give an experience with increased disposable income and internet penetration.”

“In India, gum disease or dental caries affects 90% of the population. The majority of products on the market utilise improper substances like SLS, titanium dioxide, or sodium saccharin, and there is a severe lack of information regarding oral hygiene. There is a huge chance to develop a brand for dental care that raises awareness, Khurana said.
