ONDC Unveils Interoperable B2B Ecommerce Network

On Monday, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) introduced business-to-business (B2B) transactions on its government-supported interoperable ecommerce platform. ONDC’s latest development facilitates direct engagement between merchants, enhancing wholesale trade opportunities.

ONDC aims to empower businesses in embracing the benefits of B2B commerce by facilitating smooth connectivity and digital transformation. By leveraging the open network, businesses can overcome obstacles, expand their market presence, establish fresh alliances, and access previously unexplored markets. This transition enables businesses to shift from traditional offline operations, opening up avenues for growth and prosperity.

“With the launch of the B2B-enabled open network, we are ushering in a new era of ecommerce where businesses can thrive online, overcoming the challenges that have held them back,” said T Koshy, MD & CEO of Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC)

The inaugural B2B transaction occurred on May 21 during a gathering of network participants (NPs) in Bengaluru. At the event, retail technology firm SignCatch and B2B trade platform Rapidor successfully executed the first-ever B2B golden transaction on the ONDC platform. By integrating their individual B2B buyer and seller platforms on the ONDC, SignCatch and Rapidor seek to establish seamless interoperability, facilitating effortless transactions between buyers and sellers, with a specific focus on MSMEs.

Established in December 2021, ONDC is a Section 8 company introduced by the Ministry of Commerce’s Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Its primary objective is to develop an enabling framework that transforms digital commerce, fostering increased adoption of retail ecommerce throughout India.
