Ministry of Science & Technology & BIRAC to host Global Bio-India 2023 on Dec 4-6 in Bharat Manadapam


The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government Of India, in collaboration with its Public Sector Undertaking, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), is set to host the prestigious Global Bio-India 2023 from December 4th to 6th at Bharat Manadapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. With the theme “Biotech Innovation and Bio-manufacturing,” the event aims to showcase India’s prowess in the biotechnology sector as a crucial driver towards achieving the ambitious USD 5 trillion economy target. “India poised to be among the top 5 Global Bio-manufacturing Hubs by 2025”, says the Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh.

The conference is poised to be the largest international congregation of bio technology stakeholders, including representatives from over 30 countries, 500+ exhibitors, 3000+ delegates, and 1000+ startups. The event will feature a myriad of activities such as B2B, B2G, G2G meetings, media interactions, policy dialogues, bio-partnering sessions, CEO roundtables, a global regulators meet, and an investors roundtable.

One of the focal points of Global Bio-India 2023 is the extensive representation of biotech startups, surpassing the previous year’s Biotech Startup Expo. The event will showcase 300+ exhibits by successful biotech startups and SMEs, along with 100+ biotech incubation centers, 30+ large industries, services, and CROs. Ten states will be actively promoting their biotech policies, and 25 universities and research institutions will contribute to the scientific discourse.

A highlight for startups includes 40+ pitches to investors, with participation from 100 investors, angels, VCs, and HNIs. The event will also host a masterclass for startups focusing on the art of pitching. Public sessions will bridge the gap between science and society, providing insights into the biotech sector for a broader audience during specified exhibition hours.

Key features of Global Bio-India 2023 also include CEO roundtables with MNCs representing biopharma, medtech, diagnostics, industrial biotech, and bio-agri. Stakeholder discussions will revolve around national and global regulatory trends, while supersessions will delve into biomanufacturing and the biotech innovation ecosystem. Industry-academia interactions, representation from major industry associations, investor associations, and global entrepreneurship organizations will enrich the networking opportunities.

The event will witness the launch of significant reports, including the India Bio-Economy Report, National Biopharma Mission Impact Book, DRIVEN Network Monograph, and JanCARE Healthtech Innovations report. Moreover, several MoU announcements and the unveiling of 25+ new products by biotech startups are anticipated.

Acknowledging outstanding contributions, the event will feature awards such as the Women Biotech WInER Fellowship Awards, exhibitor awards for incubation centers, startup excellence, innovator awards, and SPARSH entrepreneurs awards.

Global Bio-India 2023 promises to be a landmark event in the biotechnology landscape, offering a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the exploration of opportunities that will propel India’s biotech sector onto the global stage.
