According to UK broadcaster, Sky News report, Microsoft is planning to cut 11,000 jobs, or about 5% of its workforce.
According to the report, some positions in the human resources and engineering divisions are expected to be eliminated.

Microsoft joins Amazon, Meta, and Salesforce as major companies that have laid off thousands of employees in recent months.

“From a big picture perspective, another pending round of layoffs at Microsoft suggests the environment is not improving, and likely continues to worsen,” a Reuters report cited Morningstar analyst Dan Romanoff as saying.
According to filings, the company had 221,000 full-time employees as of June 30, including 122,000 in the United States and 99,000 globally.
According to Reuters, Microsoft is under pressure to maintain growth rates at its cloud unit Azure after several quarters of a downturn in the personal computer market hurt Windows and device sales.
In other news, Amazon plans to lay off 18,000 employees, starting January 18, from various divisions. Out of 18,000 a 1000 employees are from India. Meta will let go 13% of its workforce.
