Marcos Gaming Secures Pre-Seed Funding Round Led by India Accelerator and Finvolve

Marcos Gaming, an esports and entertainment startup, has successfully closed a pre-seed funding round led by India Accelerator and Finvolve. The startup specializes in collaborating with professional teams and athletes across various games such as BGMI, Clash of Clans, and CS2, with the goal of fostering a vibrant gaming community and culture in India.

The funds raised will be utilized for several key initiatives, including the development of gaming communities through content creation, the creation of intellectual properties (IPs), and expansion into other esports titles. Marcos Gaming is committed to taking a holistic approach to esports and entertainment, spanning from grassroots initiatives to collaborations with some of India’s most prominent gaming influencers.

Established in 2019 by Akhil Kavuturu and Sudhir Kulria, Marcos Gaming received acceleration support from STPI IMAGE in Hyderabad and has garnered support from angel investor Mohan Parthasarathy. Commenting on the state of India’s esports and entertainment landscape, Kuria remarked, “India’s esports and entertainment system is extremely fragmented. The growth of esports in India has been exponential, with StarSports and Jio entering the ecosystem. We believe esports will be the next big thing after Cricket in India. The Indian government has been looking at esports and entertainment, and various state authorities have already started working on developing esports.”

Expressing excitement about the investment, Abhay Chawla, co-founder and COO of India Accelerator, stated, “We are thrilled to announce the culmination of a strategic partnership as India Accelerator and Finvolve successfully close the investment round for Marcos Gaming. India Accelerator’s commitment to fostering innovation aligns seamlessly with Finvolve’s vision for transformative investments. Marcos Gaming, with its promising trajectory, embodies the kind of forward-thinking ventures we are eager to support. Our joint investment underscores our confidence in the team’s capabilities and the potential for Marcos Gaming to emerge as a trailblazer in the gaming sector.”

According to a report by EY, the esports industry in India is poised for significant growth. The size of the Indian eSports industry is projected to grow over fourfold, from Rs 2.5 billion to Rs 11 billion by FY2025. By FY2025, India is expected to have 1.5 million esports players, highlighting the immense potential of the sector in the country’s gaming landscape.
