How Theses Ex Flipkart Delivery Boys Launched On- Demand Delivery App in Bengaluru & Mysuru?

“To sustain in logistics business is hard, but to sustain and to never give up are the true qualities one needs to have inorder to see the change ”,said Mr. Kumar, the co-founder of Loadrunnr, in an exclusive interview with Startup Story, shared his story of how he set out on his journey to build his own venture.

How the journey towards the venture began

The founders of the company, Vinay Kumar and Raghu Nandan, started off their careers as truck delivery agents at Flipkart, where they got the essence of the logistics industry and spoted the gap that could be filled by offering on demand logistics solutions. Vinay Kumar and Raghu Nandan underwent an unforgettable entrepreneurial journey from working as employees for a transportation company to entering the logistics field as entrepreneurs.

Vinay worked for Flipkart for two and a half years before transferring to Lalamove, a company that provided on-demand delivery services for the movement of goods. Vinay spent 1.5 years working for Lalamove before the company was eventually shut down, forcing him to resign. He recognized the potential in this line of work and sought to advance it by bringing about the required changes.

Raghu Nandan worked with Flipkart for almost three and a half years, and he also saw something significant in this sector and wished to explore the path in a much deeper way. They started working on the improvements and later built their own application. Later, they made the user application, from which they now receive orders from customers.

They received grants from the Karnataka government to help kickstart their process of building this startup. Initially, they outsourced their supplies but were not satisfied with the outcome, so they decided to build everything on their own.

Services supplied

They transport goods ranging from a small lunchbox to an enormous sofa, and they have a variety of vehicles to fit the needs of every customer, from motorcycles to the Tata 407. They have categorized all the vehicles on the basis of the vehicle bodies. Customers can book any kind of vehicle that suits their needs, as some goods are easily transportable on a two-wheeler and others are not. They also provide open trucks and closed trucks to shelter all types of goods.

The platform sometimes faces the issue of orders getting canceled because of the distance between the delivery partners and the customers, which is an issue they are trying to resolve by expanding their venture.

Future expansions

The Loadrunnr is managed by a group of nine people who, since the company’s founding, have successfully recruited about 2000 delivery partners. They receive between 20 to 30 orders per day from their 500 users.

The business has a well-thought-out plan for the upcoming years. With their available resources, the founders intend to provide helpers to customers to assist them in Bengaluru and Mysore and would like to build a strong base in these locations for the next 6–12 months. The company is off to a smooth start, and the founders are working on getting more delivery partners onboard with them.

Advice for fellow entrepreneurs

The one piece of advice co-founder Vinay Kumar wants to provide to other entrepreneurs who are also just getting started on their ideas is that entering the logistics field has its own difficulties and problems, but one should never give up under any circumstances.
