Licious Partners with Recykal to Achieve Plastic Neutrality

In observance of World Environment Day, the brand has announced its dedication to achieving plastic neutrality and enhancing its sustainable growth. The brand proudly revealed that it has already attained plastic neutrality for FY2022, in collaboration with Recykal, a renowned digital solutions company specializing in circularity and sustainability.

Through Recykal’s Plastic Neutrality solution, the start-up effectively retrieved 530 metric tonnes of plastic waste during the financial year 2021-22, effectively compensating for its plastic footprint throughout the year. Approved recycling methods were employed to process the plastic waste recovered from environmentally sensitive regions of India, enabling the start-up to offset its plastic footprint for FY 2022.

The company proudly announced that its endeavors in preventing plastic waste have successfully averted an amount equivalent to the weight of an Airbus A380, the largest passenger plane globally, from being disposed in landfills. As a result of this initiative, the company has generated approximately 149,154 kWh of waste-to-energy, conserved 3,120 cubic meters of water, reduced CO2e emissions by 355 MT, and saved a significant quantity of 494,000 liters of oil.

Rajesh K, chief sustainability and quality officer at Licious, said, “Our pledge towards being plastic waste neutral marks a milestone in our journey of being a responsible and sustainable brand. We are glad to play our part this World Environment Day and join in supporting global efforts to #BeatPlasticPollution through Recykal’s digitally transparent sustainability solutions we aim to reaffirm our commitment to building a brand with a purpose; a purpose that safeguards the interest of mankind and the planet.”

Ekta Narain, co-founder and chief business officer of Recykal, added, “It is heartening to see organizations like Licious take a proactive approach toward addressing the plastic waste crisis and adopting responsible waste management practices.”
