Indian Tech Start-up Proxgy Wins SuperNova Championship at Gitex Africa 2023

Proxgy, the pioneering technology start-up from India, has emerged victorious at the prestigious SuperNova Championship held during Gitex Africa 2023, the largest tech and startup event in the African continent. Over 700 start-ups from around the world participated in the event, making Proxgy’s achievement even more remarkable.

The Everywhere-as-a-Service aggregation platform, Proxgy, outperformed global competition to secure the top position, walking away with a cash award of USD 50,000. The company’s innovative solutions and remarkable achievements caught the attention of the esteemed judging panel, which included renowned industry experts and influencers.

The finals of the SuperNova Challenge took place on the 10X stage in Marrakech, with a judging panel comprising accomplished industry experts from across the globe. This panel included Dorothy S. McAuliffe, Special Representative of the Office of Global Partnerships, US Department of State, USA; Yuan-Ting Meng, Investor & Africa Tech Columnist, DigiTimes, Taiwan; Alicia Levine, Chief Operating Officer, Chipper Cash, UK; Jonathan Coury, US Attorney & Investor, Ghani Consulting, USA; Petra Wolkenstein, General Partner Africa Fund, Startup Wise Guys, Austria; and Sheel Mohnot, Co-Founder and GP, Better Tomorrow Ventures, USA.

Proxgy’s range of innovative products includes ‘Lockator,’ which offers smart locks for industrial containers, trucks, and equipment, ‘Sleefe,’ a solution that converts any cap into a smart cap through a simple slide, and ‘SmartHat,’ a state-of-the-art safety helmet designed to enhance worker safety, communication, and collaboration. These solutions incorporate features such as real-time tracking, environment processing, 360-degree live video communication, gas leakage detection, and more.

Prior to its victory at Gitex Africa 2023, Proxgy gained significant recognition by securing Rs 1 crore in funding during Shark Tank India (2022). Notably, former BharatPe MD Ashneer Grover and Lenskart founder Peyush Bansal were among the investors who participated in the pre-seed round. With a strong portfolio of six proprietary products and over 25 patents in India, Proxgy is currently in the process of closing its seed round at a valuation of $16 million.

Gitex Africa 2023, which brought together 900 exhibiting tech companies and startups, served as a platform for Africa to showcase its achievements and opportunities in the tech industry. The event witnessed the participation of 30+ government delegations, 250+ global investors, 250 international speakers, and tens of thousands of tech executives from over 100 countries. As the largest tech and startup show in Africa, Gitex Africa 2023 played a pivotal role in integrating the continent into the global tech ecosystem.
