IIT Delhi to Open Campus in Abu Dhabi, Signs MoU in Presence of PM Modi


A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed between the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) to establish the first IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi. The signing ceremony, witnessed by UAE President HE Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, marked a significant step in reinforcing educational excellence and knowledge exchange between the two nations. The MoU was signed by HE Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, ADEK Under Secretary, Shri Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, and Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi.

This collaborative initiative, aligned with the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), reflects a shared commitment to prioritize educational excellence, innovation, knowledge exchange, and human capital investment as drivers of future prosperity, sustainable development, and long-term economic growth. The partnership not only supports the internationalization of India’s education sector but also reinforces the bond between India and the UAE.

Her Excellency Ms. Sara Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education and Chairman of ADEK, emphasized the significance of the MoU in advancing Abu Dhabi’s pursuit of a world-class education system aligned with national development goals and priorities. This collaboration represents a significant milestone in establishing a globally competitive education ecosystem and highlights Abu Dhabi’s commitment to delivering exceptional educational experiences. HE Ms. Sara Musallam also highlighted the role of the IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi collaboration in fostering innovation, promoting research, and supporting the local startup ecosystem.
