Hyderabad-Based Startup Harvesting Robotics Appoints Golden Retriever as Chief Happiness Officer

In a heartwarming move that has captured the internet’s attention, Hyderabad-based tech startup Harvesting Robotics has appointed a golden retriever named Denver as its Chief Happiness Officer (CHO), embracing the rising trend of pet-friendly workplaces in India.

Founded by Rahul Arepaka, Harvesting Robotics specializes in laser-weeding solutions aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture. But the company recently made headlines for a rather unconventional and delightful new hire. Denver, the golden retriever, has joined the team not to write code or attend meetings—but to spread joy, boost morale, and reduce stress among employees.

Announcing the new addition on LinkedIn, Arepaka wrote:
“Meet our newest hire, Denver – Chief Happiness Officer. He doesn’t code. He doesn’t care. He just shows up, steals hearts, and keeps the energy up. Also, we’re officially pet-friendly now. Best decision. BTW: He’s got the best perks in the company.”

The viral post was accompanied by a photo of Denver seated next to a desk in the company’s office, sporting a blue collar. The post quickly resonated with the online community, garnering over eleven thousand views and a flood of positive reactions and comments.

“Best thing I’ve seen today,” commented one LinkedIn user.
“New ideas new thought process. Best of luck,” another added.
A third chimed in, “Great decision. Real Stress blaster and Employee benefit.”
“Such a great decision,” read another supportive comment.

The introduction of the pet-friendly policy, along with Denver’s arrival, marks a thoughtful shift in workplace culture. Research from the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) shows that 87 per cent of employees in pet-friendly environments are more likely to remain with their current employer, and 91 per cent report feeling more engaged at work. The presence of pets has also been shown to lower stress levels, increase social interaction, and boost overall morale.

Major global corporations like Amazon and Google have long championed pet-friendly office spaces. With this move, Harvesting Robotics joins a growing number of forward-thinking companies recognising the positive impact of animal companions on workplace well-being.

Speaking about the decision, Arepaka reiterated, “Best decision”, reflecting the internal joy Denver has already brought to the team.

With Denver now on board, Harvesting Robotics not only strengthens its team with the warmth and comfort that only a furry friend can offer but also sets an inspiring example of how modern workplaces can evolve to prioritise mental health and employee happiness.
