Healthcare startup Onsurity raises funding from cricketer Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble, the Indian cricket legend and tech enthusiast, has joined Onsurity as a strategic advisor as he wants to be a “evangelist” for the company’s mission to improve the quality of life for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and freelancers in the fields of sports, environment, forestry, technology, and allied fields.

In the post-pandemic year of 2020, entrepreneurs Yogesh Agarwal and Kulin Shah came up with the idea for Onsurity, a health insurance service that provides a low-cost monthly subscription to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and startups (startups) in order to provide adequate social security coverage for their employees.

Onsurity, India’s first tech-led monthly subscription-based employee health benefits platform, is backed by India’s sports star Kumble, who feels that the country’s SME workers are neglected and is eager to raise awareness of group health and wellness benefits.

On his partnership with Onsurity, Anil Kumble said: “I have personally witnessed and led fundraisers for this vulnerable workforce, who are usually not full-time employees in the ecosystem. These gig workers or off role employees, be it in the sports, manufacturing, services or technology sector, deserve a professional approach to secure their health and wellness needs. This is what I liked about Onsurity, who are in a way, democratizing access to healthcare benefits through their tech-led platform and B2B associations. Through this collaboration, I am looking forward to raising awareness about the importance of healthcare and wellbeing among employees and their families, which I feel can solve healthcare issues of India’s missing middle.”

Eighty percent of the 300,000+ persons Onsurity has insured thus far are first-time beneficiaries of health insurance. As so, it demonstrates Onsurity’s dedication to expanding access to the kind of comprehensive social and health insurance that enables individuals to enjoy the kind of life they deserve.

Commenting on legendary cricketer association with Onsurity, Yogesh Agarwal, Founder and CEO said, “We are excited to welcome the trailblazer Anil Kumble as the strategic advisor to the Onsurity family. His style of thinking, trust he commands and problem-solving approach truly aligns with our differentiated model of providing affordable healthcare, wellness, and social security solutions to the masses. His association would help us move closer to our vision of “providing digitally enabled world class healthcare benefits for 300 mn workforce employed with the emerging businesses of India. ”

After nearly two and a half years since the pandemic first emerged, Onsurity has partnered with Kumble to raise awareness about the importance of providing adequate health and wellness cover for the employees of India’s start-ups, SMEs, and MSMEs in order to retain talent, provide for employee social security, and ensure the steady advancement of their employees’ careers.

Preventative services including medical teleconsultations, mental health care, online drug delivery, free fitness, health and accidental insurance, and wellness seminars are all part of Onsurity’s healthcare subscription, which begins at Rs 145 per month.
